In April of 2007, I wrote a brief entry about the popularity of NY composer Andrew Lippa in the Bay Area. We have met him briefly several times at TheatreWorks in Palo Alto where he has come to workshop some of his shows (“A Little Princess”, “Jerry Christmas”, “Betty Boop” and “Asphalt Beach”). Monday, the New York Times published Andrew Lippa’s wedding announcement to LA film marketing executive David Bloch on July 15.
We also saw the NY Times announcement for our friends Robert Leone and Edward Decker on our way back from our July 4th week Broadway theatre trip. Ed Decker is the Artistic/Executive Director of our favorite gay theatre in SF, New Conservatory Theatre Center. He and his partner, Robert, were married on July 1st by San Francisco Supervisor Tom Ammiano at City Hall.
Two of our best friends, in fact, they were our best men in our Jewish wedding ceremony three years ago also were just married legally in California. Like many same-sex couples, John and David also had a religious ceremony in May of 2007.
Mozel Tov! to all the same-sex couples that have married or are getting married in California this summer.
